Entertainment Weekly Presents The Visionaries

If you know anything about me, you know that I pretty much think J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon are TV Gods and genuises. So when i found out that they were doing a panel together at Comic Con and it was being moderated by one of my favorite writers (Entertainment Weekly's, Jeff 'Doc' Jensen), I knew I had to be there. Luckily we got into this panel much easier than expected and waited in line for a mere 2 hours.

They talked about a lot including their admiration for each other, the use of the Internet in making media (such as Dr. Horrible's sing a-long blog), and their thoughts on the new 3D craze in movies. Oh, Joss also officially announced he is directing 'The Avengers' .... AWESOME. I was enamored listening to these two men talk and hearing about their processes. It was inspiring and englightening and just all together amazing. Doc Jensen was a great moderator for this event being somewhat of a fanboy himself and he seemed genuinely excited to be apart of the event.

Below are some pics and videos I took during the panel but if you want to watch the whole thing head over to Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con Hub! You can also watch Doc Jensen's backstage interviews!
***OK so there is only one video for now because blogger is being a pain in the butt and not letting me upload multiple videos and pictures!! so enjoy for now! and hit up the facebook for pictures! More to come on SUNDAY***

Day 1 of Comic Con was definitely one of my favorites if not my ultimate favorite of the whole experience. There are a few reasons for this which i will definitely be getting into.

First things first, we hit up the HASBRO GI Joe panel! Jerry was whisked away from some big wig Hasbro peeps for front row seats so Jaime, myself and the rest of our gang tried to get as close as possible! The new show looks great and judging from the crowd's reaction I think it's going to be a great success! Great job Jerry!

Next was the panel that I had been waiting for and was the most excited for...Entertainment Weekly presents The Visionaries: J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon moderated by EW's Jeff 'Doc' Jensen. More to come on this in the next post.

Because our hunger was taking over, we unfortunately missed the showtime panels but this also meant we were able to hit up the EW/CBS party early which was an awesome time. There was a yummy open bar, snack food, and a great swag bag. I also got to meet and talk 'LOST' with Doc Jensen (which pretty much made my comic con). It was needless to say an incredible night!

dear comic con ....

the LXD

technically it's not on tv but it is a fabulous new web series on hulu.com that you should definitely be checking out. I saw the LXD perform at the gLee live show memorial day weekend at radio city. They were simply fantastic and i could not take my eyes off of them. If you love dance or even remotely like it, you will love this web series. Trust me, you should check it out.
For the television lovers, the LXD features Harry Shum, Jr. of gLee and is directed by John M. Chu (Step Up 2, and 3d)

here's the link to their page. new episodes will be added every wednesday.

and for your viewing pleasure here is the first episode...

i've done it again...

...that's right, i posted for a few weeks and then stopped again. The end of my school year was over packed and emotionally and mentally draining. All i can think is that I don't know what to do with my life right now. I was offered a job this morning and am going to start a per Diem speech job on Thursday which pays pretty well. Yet, all I've been doing tonight is looking at journalism schools and certificate programs and deciding when to start blogging again. It makes me nervous. I do not regret changing majors in college...I believe that everything happens for a reason and without my current job i would not have been able to do some of the amazing things I've done (like teaching in Italy) nor would i have met some fantastic people who have had a profound impact on my life. However, i can't stop the feeling of "what if" and "how would i change this" and "what if i end up hating it." Being a speech pathologist is a good and rewarding career which is continuing to become more important in our world but all I have our doubts about my skills and the scary feeling that I'm not doing my best. Is it bad that I want to do something for a career that may be more self satisfying? Something that I think, well know that I would be more passionate about? I want to reach out to some of those in the industry that I follow on twitter and ask for advice. I am hoping that someone will hear me and be able to help me on my way. I guess I should be making an appointment at career services at Emerson as well. I need to talk to someone...I don't think I can make this decision on my own. I also think my family and friends won't fully understand.

Hopefully be blogging more frequently soon.

love, lauren
