btvS: season 2's bests so far....

Suprise/Innocence - these two episodes could quite possibly be the best two episodes of the series but i won't jump to that conclusion yet. they are definitely in my top 10 at least. the acting in these episodes are superb....by all parties involved. i believe both of these episodes were written by joss whedon, and let's just say the guy is ridiculously talented. someone should defunitely have won an emmy for this episode, whether it be acting, writing, directing, anything. the scene at the end of the first episode where buffy and angel are sitting on his bed is just so cheesy and fabulous and amazing all at the same time. i love it. and well obviously the big metaphor of this episode, is that sometimes you sleep with a guy and then he becomes all evil which does sometime happen and it's exciting and interesting to see it play out this way. i also have to say that david boreanaz is really wonderful and charasmatic when he plays angelus....he is so great at playing evil and portraying that whole stalker insane ex-boyfriend role. amazing stuff.

i have a few more episodes to talk about that i've watched today but i must start getting ready for the red sox. beckett is pitching tonight and i am oh so excited to be going. wooot.

buffy is the best show ever.

So i'm sitting here on april vacation and currently watching an episode of buffy the vampire slayer from season 2. This season is remarkable, and i'm really thinking it might be my favorite. I forgot how incredible the acting, the storyline, the way the music complements the plot, everything about this season really is. Having decided to rewatch the whole series on my dvds i figured I would pick and talk about what I think are the best episodes of the series. This probably won't be some over arching analysis about how many lessons you can learn from the characters but take it for what it's worth.

Alright so here goes.....

SEASON 1

Angel - the beginning of the heart-wrenching and world-shattering relationship that is buffy and angel. the first kiss, learning that he has a soul, everything starts here between them. although she's had many relationships in the series, angel will always be her first and most emotional core-shaking can't live without each other love. overall, it's just a great great episode in probably the weakest season the series had.

Prophecy Girl - buffy dies for the first time in this episode and sarah michelle gellar acts so well that she makes you want to cry. her acting is tremendous and she portrays the character just right so that you can really feel the weight of the world on buffy's shoulders. this is what it takes to be a slayer. she faces her destiny with a headstrong determination that is just kick ass. i also really like that xander gets to step up in this episode and save the day. his character has always been the one who doesn't have a defined role, he's just the normal kid who cracks the jokes and dates the bug people and cordy but in this episode he brings buffy back to life when angel can't. it shows that everyone is important.
